Description

The Diploma in Sign Language Interpretation is a two-year full-time programme designed to equip students with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills in sign language and interpretation. Learners will develop a deep understanding of linguistic, cultural, and communicative aspects of Deaf communities, preparing them to act as effective intermediaries between Deaf and hearing individuals.

Throughout the programme, students engage in a combination of classroom instruction, practical workshops, and supervised field placements. The curriculum covers areas such as advanced sign language proficiency, interpretation techniques, deaf culture and ethics, communication technologies, and professional practice.

Graduates of this programme will be well-prepared for careers in education, healthcare, legal services, media, and other professional settings where effective communication with Deaf individuals is essential. For a student to be eligible to join this programme, he or she must possess at least one of the following qualifications:

  • A holder of an Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (ACSEE) with one principal pass.
  • A holder of a Certificate from a recognized institution.
